Have you ever dreamed about something bigger than yourself? Something good that could happen for you or for others?

I drew a picture this morning of my dream. Take a look. Plants taking root. At first glance, it is just an average picture- possibly even drawn by a child. Now look at it again. The bright sunny day with plants reaching toward the sky as the roots grow deep into the earth. Nutrients from the sun, and the soil. Now look - 5 different colors Each representing various different groups or topics want to teach and serve at Great Marriages. Youth, married / engaged, parents, fathers, and those in need of financial coaching.**

My dream? To serve each of the above groups to teach and encourage new, healthy growth through best practices and relationship building. I believe we can create social change through awareness, and calling people to a stronger relationships first in their youth, through the engagement period and into their married lives. Marriages, that can last for a lifetime, that can be fruitful, fun and fulfilling!

At Great Marriages, we long to serve many alongside our partners, private and non-profit for a better community and to encourage healthy relationships no matter what season they are in.. As you look at the picture again, you might ask "where are the weeds?" In this well tended garden, they have been pulled out, leaving plenty of room for growth. Much like our own relationships when well nurtured and cared for. But it takes time, doesn't it?

Last night there was a rain storm that soaked the earth and lightning that looked a bit ominous. My son commented that he loved it. I frankly did too. The nourishment the plants were getting would help me not to have to go out and water myself. But, outside of my selfish thoughts, I was thankful for the provision. Many times I believe God provides in ways we don't always look at as "pleasant" or comforting at the time, but the provision in the midst of storms does create strong growth. This combined with the light of the sun provides even deeper growth in the roots, and more blooms or fruit to enjoy.

Our marriages and relationships are like that. If we nurture our garden in good times and not so good times, the fruit from our labor will show itself to be beautiful and nourishing. You might be experiencing a rough patch, or dry spell in your marriage. Tend your garden anyway! It may take time, but your intentions and the love you show to others will not go unnoticed. Be strong and take courage. You can be who you were called to be in the midst of change. You can be stronger together than apart, and if additional assistance or coaching is needed, please give us a call at Great Marriages today. We can help mentor you and provide additional support through your changing seasons.

I wish you good growth and much fruit in your relationships as you pursue your dreams.

**Please note: groups in these categories are at various stages of development. For some, the seeds are just being planted, for others, firmly established with deep roots and plenty of fruit. Our Great Marriages Mentors coach couples (engaged and married) directly through our Prepare and Enrich program. Financial and parenting concerns challenge couples we serve greatly. We believe we can teach best practices through coaching and continued education to provide additional "tools in the toolbox" to better equip couples and families to grow in healthy ways while cutting off or preventing unhealthy patterns to start. If you or a loved one would like more information on our programs, please call today at: 920.783.6142 or email us at info@great-marriages.org.
